National Libraries Day ...

National Libraries Day took place this past Saturday. Everyone who wrote a few lines about what the library means to them, or things they remember about Sandown library from the past were offered a slice of cake with a drink of tea or coffee.

See below for the delicious cake the library had made ...

Sandown Library staff have put all the thoughts and memories into a celebration book, and it makes very interesting reading with three customers recalling Miss Wright the librarian, Mr Grapes in charge of the geology museum and Mr Matthews the caretaker who lived in the flat upstairs.

February is Love Libraries month, so the book will remain available for anyone to add their words to it. Pop down to Sandown library to add yours.
